Business Owners

As a business owner, you have a responsibility to ensure that your premises are compliant with disability legislation requirements. Our Planning Team can help you with this, but before you get in touch with them, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are all of your doors 36 inches wide?
  • Do you have levers instead of doorknobs installed on all of your doors?
  • Do you have an accessible restroom – fitted with an appropriate sink, toilet and grabbars?
  • Can a wheelchair turn around in the room?
  • Do you have an elevator or ramps in place where steps are conventionally used?

  • If you’re unable to answer ‘yes’ to all of the above questions, your business is not accessible and may be discriminating against people with disabilities. To get advice on how to change this situation, click here.
